Tim Sickel receiving the key to the City of West Des Moines from
Mayor Steven Gaer in June 2008.  This is the second time in 15
years Tim has received this honor because of his dedication and
commitment to volunteering to help others in their time of need.
Tim Sickel with Olympic Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson and her coach, Chow, right after Tim and
his fellow volunteers helped rebuild Chows gym after the floods of 2008.  Shawn was able to
resume her training 3 days later because Tim and the other volunteers worked around the clock
to rebuild the gym. One week later she went to the Olympic trials and won the gold medal. In
August she went to the Olympics in Chows hometown of Beijing and won 4 medals.
